Legion
Blasterjaxx
Amsterdam, Netherlands - October 15, 2020 - Dutch DJ and producer duo Blasterjaxx are creating a special track called ‘Legion’ for the upcoming video game Watch Dogs Legion, from video game developer and publisher Ubisoft. Thom Jongkind and Idir Makhlaf, as the duo are known outside of their artist alias, are big video game enthusiasts and saw the ultimate collaboration in Watch Dogs Legion.
Blasterjaxx created a track that seamlessly aligns with Ubisoft, but at the same time presents complete creative freedom. ‘Legion’ manages to strikingly combine the atmosphere of the game's broken-down London with the desire for resistance from the London population. “Ubisoft gave us the opportunity to combine game elements with music in a cool, unique project that eventually turned into our track: Legion,” said Thom Jongkind and Idir Makhlaf, Blasterjaxx. The track ‘Legion’ will be available on all major music services from October 29 — the same release date of the video game — and will be accompanied by a suitable video clip on YouTube that same day.
The history of Blasterjaxx goes back about 10 years, when Thom Jongkind and Idir Makhlaf got to know each other. From a 20 square foot dorm room to Ultra Miami, Tomorrowland, Parookaville and EDC Las Vegas just a few years later. In 2013 the duo broke through internationally with the single ‘Faith’. This track was a number one hit in Sweden and South Africa and also went double platinum. After this success, the duo won multiple awards and Blasterjaxx quickly conquered the heart of the global EDM scene through collaborations with David Guetta, Armin van Buuren, Tiësto, The Chainsmokers and Hardwell, among others. Their love for video games has always been in the background. For example, the track ‘Narco’ by Blasterjaxx & Timmy Trumpet previously appeared in Just Dance 2019. With their special track ‘Legion’ in honour of the release of Watch Dogs Legion, the duo managed to take another surprising step in the turbulent 2020.
In Watch Dogs Legion, London is on the brink of doom, and as members of DedSec, players face off against criminal opportunists, including mercenaries, cyber criminals and sadists, who have taken the upper hand over the defeated government. Players are recruiting members for their DedSec resistance through the Play As Anyone feature, an all-new gameplay element that allows players to recruit and play any character in the game. From an MI6 agent to an old lady, each character is unique and has its own background story, personality and skills. Liberate London from the air on a cargo drone as a construction worker or on the ground as a spy using high-tech gadgets, the choice is entirely up to the player.
Watch Dogs Legion will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Stadia and Windows PC from the Epic Games Store and the Ubisoft Store from October 29, 2020. The game will also be available for Xbox Series X and S from November 10, 2020 and for PlayStation 5 from November 19. Players who purchase Watch Dogs Legion on current consoles will receive a free next-gen upgrade to Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5. Finally, the game will be part of UPLAY +, Ubisoft's subscription service.

About Maxximize Records
One of the most recent steps in Blasterjaxx's career is the launch of their own label, event and radio show concept called Maxximize Records (2015). Reaching 10 million listeners, the label has teamed up with Spinnin 'Records to set up a record label that currently hosts major artists such as KHSMR, DBSTF, Timmy Trumpet, Dannic and Bassjackers. Today, Maxximize has become one of Beatports' Top 10 Best Selling Big Room Labels - an impressive achievement in just 1 year from its launch. The success of Maxximize worked perfectly as a kick-off for Blasterjaxx's large-scale parties in Rotterdam (Maassilo), after which New York (2x) and Miami quickly followed. Artists like Ummet Ozcan, Laidback Luke, Firebeatz, Bassjackers and Timmy Trumpet were a nice addition to the line-up. Hardwell also came by for a back-to-back DJ set at one of these events. As the DJ duo continues to grow worldwide with bigger gigs, they have not lost their personal approach to fans and focus on Maxximize. They organized a special Amsterdam Dance Event Pub Crawl in 2016 for just 75 of their most passionate fans. In 2017 their first label night sold out during ADE immediately and this was followed by a second and third sold out edition in 2018 & 2019.
About Spinnin’ Records
With dance music evolving from a niche phenomenon to the world’s most dominant music genre, Spinnin’ Records has followed a similar trail. Hosting several sublabels (including Tiësto’s Musical Freedom and Oliver Heldens’ Heldeep Records) and releasing multiple singles every week, Spinnin’ Records has helped kickstart and extend the careers of many DJs, among them world famous artists. New artists are presented on a regular basis, while the label’s online dominance is striking, reaching millions through its YouTube channel (over 27 million subscribers, winning the International Dance Music Award for Best YouTube Channel early 2020) and other popular social media. Beside this, Spinnin’ Records is serving a mass audience on various streaming platforms, including Spotify, where it attends to millions of listeners through several playlists and releases, while its weekly radio show Spinnin’ Sessions is broadcasted all over the world on various partner radio stations, reaching over 30 million listeners every week. Add to this innovative projects like Spinnin’s Talent Pool, Spinnin’ NEXT, Spinnin’ Premium, the label’s Global Partnerships department, and of course the takeover by Warner Music in 2017, that’s brought the dance label a wide range of new opportunities, and it’s clear the innovation never stops.
