Sam Feldt had a massive 2018 with hit singles like Where’s My Love, Heaven (Don’t Have A Name), Just To Feel Alive and Down For Anything dotted throughout the year. He kicks off his 2019 with another well-picked collaboration, this time with one of Europe’s most popular female voices, Kate Ryan.
World Music Award winner Ryan counts over 100 million streams to her name, with multiple Platinum sales / stream certifications under her belt. Feldt credits her as being one of his childhood heroes. “Growing up, I heard her songs on the radio and I also played them during my first "gigs" as a DJ. When I heard she was open to collaborating with me I immediately jumped on the opportunity and started working on the song, which turned out awesome but is very different and more indie compared to her previous tracks.”
Heavenly sounds bring the track to life, with lush vocal synths setting the tone before delicate plucked guitar arpeggios gently play under Ryan’s wonderfully smooth tones. The melancholy verse is unexpectedly contrasted by the rousing chorus, where a plump bassline and chopped-up vocal riff lift the track higher. The contrasts in the track are incredibly satisfying, taking you twisting and turning on a real emotional journey. The next drop brings in an irresistible, trance-tinged riff to give even more atmospheric texture, with a triumphant climax allowing the melody and chord progression to unfold further.
“I was one of the millions who loved and danced to the smashing Sam Feldt-hit ‘Show Me Love’” says the singer, whose only previous collaboration was with the legendary Avicii. “I instantly became a huge fan of his work. I choose my collabs wisely, and I haven't released many of them in my career. I'm so happy Sam and I got to work together on this song. I had the melodies and a basic idea for the song but it needed something extra. It was a challenge for me because ‘Gold’ has a more indie feel and a bittersweet mystery and magic to it that needed to be captured. So when I reached out to him and he came back with his version I was immediately convinced that his touch is what this song needed. This collaboration is a dream come true.”

“Beginning of 2018 I was looking for a nice classy vocal, and I had met Ashibah some years ago while touring in Brazil and I always liked her deep voice. She recorded two demos and I preferred the more mellow one as it fits better the Nora En Pure vibe and we tweaked a bit on the lyrics. When I was in Nashville, I sat down with one of my studio partners and worked out a new loop that could be a follow up to ‘Tears In Your Eyes’. I liked that enthusiastic energy that came with this new melody and sounds and tried to finish the demo for a first draft. And that sort of won over the initial demo that Ashibah sang on in the first place.”
