The artwork originated as a tribute to Colombia's extraordinary biodiversity, but also as an act of artistic protest against political decisions that sacrifice forests, rivers, and ecosystems in the name of immediate interests. Here, the jaguar ceases to be merely an endangered species and becomes an emblem of sovereignty, memory, and belonging; a reminder that love for one's country is not demonstrated by wrapping oneself in a flag, but by protecting that which gives it life.
