Exclusive interview Blasterjaxx: 'Great stuff coming up in 2016!'

Jan 20, 2016

Blasterjaxx is on fire. The duo recently launched its own Maxximize label, on which they have now presented their brand new single, a blazing collab with DBSTF titled 'Parnassia'. Following this, we had an exclusive interview with the guys about the label, their own events, how they create music and what upcoming producers could do best to get noticed..

Hey guys, what have you been up to lately? Any new year’s resolutions you’ve already accomplished (or broken)?
"Hi guys! Lately we’ve been very busy working in the studio, producing new music and trying to innovate ourselves and our sound. No New Years resolutions for us, what you can’t make, you can’t break ;)"

Recently, you kicked off your own label Maxximize. How are things going here, any 2016 plans you can already reveal?
"We are really happy and proud with the progression of Maxximize Records! We receive so much more cool music now! The most difficult part now is to decide which tracks we would absolutely play in a set or in our Maxximize On Air radio-show. But we already signed some great tracks for release on our label. There is a lot of new stuff coming your way soon, and not only Blasterjaxx tracks, the plan for 2016 is to release great tracks every two weeks."

This week, the second single on Maxximize was released, this time a collab you did with Dutch duo DBSTF titled ‘Parnassia’. What can you tell us about this track?
"Haha 'Parnassia'… Well, as some might know Diederik and Stefan are very good friends and they live in the same city as we do. Creating 'Parnassia' was just like any other studio session we do together, we sit down and shoot over a lot of ideas, and by trying out multiple variations we come to the shape of the tune. DBSTF are great producers and in our eyes one of the best we’ve worked with so far. They have over 10 years of experience in the hardstyle scene and are very skilled when it comes to music-production and the whole mix down process."

Furthermore, what can we expect from Blasterjaxx this year?
"Besides Maxximize Records, we also have our own MAXXIMIZE events. We hosted an event at Governors Island NYC in August last year and that was a great succes and completely sold out. The next MAXXIMIZE will be in NYC again on February 13, this time at the Hammerstein Ballroom, a great historic venue which is rarely used for dance events. We are really excited about this!"

Check out the event right here.

"Next to that we also have our own radio-show Maxximize On Air where we deliver a weekly stack of exclusive and hard to find tracks. And of course we will release a lot more tracks this year!"

And finally, what tips and tricks do you have for the upcoming producers on Spinnin’s Talent Pool?
"This is a tip we give to every other producer who wants to make it in the scene: Make original music, music which is interesting for other DJs to play and don’t try to copy your favorite tune. Copying might work for your sound design process but when it comes to creating a strong and unique tune, you absolutely need to come up with something all on your own."
