Exclusive interview Lucas & Steve: 'We’re really happy with our party selling out on ADE-Saturday'
Oct 20, 2016
These two guys are making big waves. As a follow up single on their huge hit with Sam Feldt ‘Summer On You’ they recently released their newest tune ‘Love On My Mind’. This banger already gained a massive support from heavyweights like Tiësto, Don Diablo, R3hab and many others. No bigger reason to host their own party during ADE!
Dutch DJs Lucas & Steve joined forces in 2010 and quickly started to impress the scene with their productions. Their triumphal march through nowadays house music is getting more impressive by the day. We were very curious about their plans during the Amsterdam Dance Event and one thing is sure, you will have the chance to check out Lucas & Steve in full effect!
Check out the exclusive interview with Lucas & Steve below and find out what they’ve been up to lately and where to find them during ADE.
Hey there, first up: what have you been up to lately?
“We just got back from Prague where we did a show in a sick venue. The DJ-booth faced 4 floors filled with the crowd. We also played at the Ziggo Dome (Amsterdam) last weekend. Obviously we’ve also been busy getting ready for ADE.”
It’s time for the Amsterdam Dance Event! What are you doing this week?
“This is definitely going to be one of the busiest weeks of this year. We’re going to do a lot of shows, several radio interviews (and sets) and a lot of press meetings. We’re also very proud to host our own event on Saturday the 22nd of October at the Supperclub Cruise.”
The single Love On My Mind was released last week. What can you tell us about this release?
“The track started with the melody of the break. We thought it would be cool to give the break an anthem-like vibe so we tried to design a unique lead sound for this. For the drop we were looking for a melody with a bit more energy, without losing its congruence with the melody in the break. While working on the track everything followed naturally, as did the vocal ‘Love On My Mind’. The sample has been used before a long time ago and is one of our all-time favorites.”
What does this record say about your musical evolution as an artist?
“With Love On My mind we continue our crossover-path between a song and a club track. We love to create new sounds, but will always try to keep our tracks recognizable as Lucas & Steve-tracks.”
A lot of gigs coming up for ADE! Which one are you most excited about and why?
“It’s really hard to pick one. Spinnin’ Records’ night at AIR Amsterdam is going to be awesome, but also our show at Amsterdam Music Festival (Slam, Ziggo Dome) is an event we’re definitely looking forward to. I think we’re most excited about our own party, Skyline Sessions!”
Skyline Sessions is going to happen! What can we expect and how are you experiencing this exciting event?
“We’re really happy with our party selling out on ADE-Saturday, and we feel honored with the great response, keeping in mind all the massive parties that take place that night. Another reason for us to be excited is our line-up which is filled with house-music superstars: Chocolate Puma, Mike Mago, Pep & Rash, Curbi, Mr. Belt & Wezol, Bolier, Ferreck Dawn, Joe Stone, Mike Williams, Dante Klein, Zonderling, hosted by MC Haits.”
If you were free during ADE, which parties would you visit?
“Between our ADE shows we do have a couple of spare hours every now and then and we’re probably going to drop by Don Diablo’s party, Oliver Heldens’ party and as a closing party for ADE we may visit Jay Hardway and Julian Jordan’s party. Always good to chill every now and then.”
Long story short, how would you describe the Amsterdam Dance Event in one word?
“Awesome!”
And finally, which record are we definitely going to hear a lot during this ADE?
“Well, we hope that everybody will play ‘Love On Our Mind’ haha. Besides that, we think that you will be hearing ‘Steam Train’ a lot by Chocolate Puma and Hi-Lo. Really cool track that can be played by both commercial and a bit more underground DJ’s.”
