Exclusive interview: New Dance Music Friday featuring Hasse de Moor
Dec 9, 2016
We proudly present the New Dance Music Friday feature, your weekly update on all newly released dance tracks, brought together on one amazing Spotify playlist. Featured this week (among many others): Hasse de Moor! He's releasing his new single 'Work' today, provides the list with some musical tips, and tells all about it in this exclusive interview.
Hey Hasse, you just released your new track 'Work' together with GLD. How did you create this?
"Yo! So Jake from GLD and I were on Facetime discussing ideas for a new collab, Mattie pulled up with this synth sound and we made the melody later when we changed the tempo to 128 bpm. The original idea was actually at 150 bpm, then at 105 bpm and finally 128. When we made the melody, Jake had the idea of making a vocal that would almost be the same as the melody of the synth. When the first drop was made we kinda just went back and forth with stems and in the end I ended up mixing it and putting in the final touches!"
What does this record say about your musical evolution as an artist?
"I think this record is the perfect representation of the sound I have. I also think this record may be a little stronger structure-wise compared to previous tracks. 'Evolution-wise' I don't think I've changed THAT much with this track!"
The track is featured on Spinnin’s New Dance Music Friday playlist. How important is Spotify to you?
"Spotify for me is very important. I think it's very important to having all people be able to listen to your music, there's always soundcloud but the majority of 'non-producers"'(a.k.a normal people) listen to their music of choice on Spotify! An example; When I play something for my girlfriend and she wants to listen to it on her phone, she'll immediately ask; "Is it on Spotify yet??". I've also heard a lot of people who listen to my music when they go to the gym, it's very easy when you can just add that specific song or those specific songs to your work out playlist on Spotify!"
Which artists should we definitely keep an eye on and add to New Dance Music Friday this week?
"Definitely of course keep an eye on the boys from GLD! They've got some heat coming. As well as Curbi! Should def add his new remix of 'Let Me Hold You' in there!"
Which tracks released this week should definitely be added to New Dance Music Friday?
"I really like the new one from CMCS and DVBBS ft. Gia Koka! - 'Not Going Home'. But also: Yogi - 'Blow You Up', RL Grime - 'What So Not', Skrillex - 'Waiting', Herobust & LAXX - 'No Time'."
