Dec 23, 2016

We proudly present the New Dance Music Friday feature, your weekly update on all newly released dance tracks, brought together on one amazing Spotify playlist. Featured this week (among many others): Sam Feldt!  He's releasing his new single 'What About The Love' today, and provides the list with some musical tips, and tells all about it in this exclusive interview.

It's been amazing year for mister Sam Feldt. Releasing a couple of big hits like 'Been A While' and 'Summer On You' (for which he received a nomination for the famed Edison Pop Awards), getting nominated for an MTV European Music Award en entering the DJ Mag Top 100 at #84. And now he's back, giving the year the perfect ending with brand new single 'What About The Love'. High time we had a chat with the much talked about Dutchman.

Hey Sam, you just released your new track What About The Love. How did you create this?
"Hey guys, thanks for having me! The process of creating 'What About The Love' from start to finish actually took quite a long time. I received a top line in my email around 1,5 years ago that I really liked and started producing an instrumental around it. Then the track sat on the shelves for a long time until I stumbled upon it again a few months ago. I had just heard the amazing voice of Gia Koka back then and decided to send her the instrumental to work her magic. I immediately liked how her vocals sounded on the track and after a few tweaks and mixing down her vocals the track was finished."

What does this record say about your musical evolution as an artist?
"As Sam Feldt I've always tried to keep my releases fresh and diverse. 'Show Me Love', for example, was only 115 BPM in tempo. This new record 'What About The Love' is much more high energy at 128 BPM. I want to show the world I can do more than tropical or deep house and I think 'What About The Love' perfectly showcases the diversity Sam Feldt stands for."

The track is featured on Spinnin’s New Dance Music Friday playlist. How important is Spotify to you?
"I think nowadays Spotify is the most important platform to discover new music on and listen to your favorite artists. Radio stations and Top 100 charts worldwide look at Spotify very strongly and I believe getting exposure on Spotify is one of the most surefire ways to getting your music heard by the masses. Being added to a playlist like New Dance Music Friday is awesome and I hope a lot of playlists will follow in the future!"

Which artists or tracks should definitely be added to New Dance Music Friday?
"Mr. Belt & Wezol - 'Boogie Wonderland', Kris Kross Amsterdam & Conor Maynard feat. Ty Dolla $ign - 'Are You Sure?'"
