We proudly present the New Dance Music Friday feature, your weekly update on all newly released dance tracks, brought together on one amazing Spotify playlist. Featured this week (among many others): Lucas & Steve! They’ve released their new single ‘Calling On You’ and they’re providing the list with some musical tips, and tell all about it in this exclusive interview.
Lucas & Steve couldn’t have ended 2016 any better! Releasing their massive hit ‘Summer On You’ (platinum record) together with Sam Feldt, followed by their own gem ‘Love On My Mind’, which received a massive support from Martin Garrix, David Guetta, Avicii, The Chainmokers and many more.
More exciting things from Lucas & Steve as they will be hosting their own weekly radio show on Dutch radio station Radio 538, with their very first episode airing tonight at 1 AM CET. Their radio show will also be aired on a couple other radio stations, such as Radio FG (Belgium), DI FM (UK), Fun Radio (France) and NRG (Finland) to name a few.
Starting the new year with the new release ‘Calling On You’ featuring Jake Reese, they’re putting their musical stamp on 2017. With such a bright future ahead, it is about time we had a chat with this promising DJ duo.
Hey, you just released your new track Calling On You. How did you create this?
"As soon as we received Jake’s vocals we immediately fell in love with them. So much inspiration! We started to work with these vocals and created new melodies, chords, and of course some uplifting beats for it. We were looking for the ultimate energetic feelgood sound which we feel we found in the end. The new song was born."
What does this record say about your musical evolution as an artist?
"We have our own specific sound, which we constantly improve. We try to lift our tracks to the next level every time again in mix, sound design and energy. We think we’ve achieved this with our new track with which we’re very happy."
The track is featured on Spinnin’s New Dance Music Friday playlist. How important is Spotify to you?
"Spotify is extremely important to us. Not only can we measure the popularity of our tracks with it, but it’s also a great way of reaching a new, different audience than we would reach by radio or the clubscene."
Which tracks released this week should definitely be added to New Dance Music Friday?
"KREAM - Taped Up Heart ft. Ciara Mae and Don Diablo - Cutting Shapes."
