Exclusive interview Menshee: 'I like my music melodic, groovy and louder'
Jan 27, 2017
Menshee is releasing his single 'Never' today, already a popular tune from Spinnin's Talent Pool, now officially out through Spinnin's channels. We talked with the LA based artist on his music, the Talent Pool and his future ambitions....
Hey there, what have you been up to lately?
"Hi. For the last four months I've been in LA accumulating inspiration, making new music."
You are delivering your new track 'Never' straight out of Spinnin's Talent Pool. What can you tell us about this track?
"The idea of 'Never' came to me last summer. I heard a lot of nice piano tracks and I like massive drops as well. I decided to mix these ideas into the new track. First of all I made a drop line with pianos and wobbly basses. And then I found some nice vocal chops for the breakdown. I heard this track in the club, in the car, in the studio, in my headphones and decided to send it to the Talent Pool. And I like the result (it turned into Track of the Week and now a Talent Pool release)."
What is your most important goal when making a track?
"I try to make my tracks melodic, groovy and louder."
How do you experience the Talent Pool?
"I started at the Talent Pool way back in the summer of 2015 when I saw a remix contest for Oliver Heldens, Shaun Frank and Delaney Jane. But my first successes at the Talent Pool was with my track 'Hit The Road' which became Track of the Week. It was exiting for me. Then I made several tracks especially for the Talent Pool. In 2016 the Talent Pool supported five of my tracks as Track of the Week. This was incredible."
Do you have any advice for the Talent Pool and/or the producers dropping their tracks?
"Yes. I think every producer must work hard on their productions. Listen to your tracks everywhere: in the car, phone, club and etc. Always listen to artists that inspire you, listen new music, other styles."
Finally, what is your future ambition?
"I want to create new music, working on new hits for Spinnin' Records :) "
