Feb 27, 2017
Mastrovita is one of the Talent Pool's biggest scoring artists to date. Already making waves with his track 'Invsbl Dreams' for a while, the track got picked up by loads of internationally known DJs, and is now released on Sander van Doorn's DOORN Records - quite impressive! We had a talk with him.
Who could have known, the track 'Invsbl Dream' getting so much attention. First, it got noticed on the Talent Pool, then it received more and more DJ support, including artists like Tiësto, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Martin Garrix, Sam Feldt, Quintino, Yves V, Lost Frequencies, Jay Hardway, Tom Swoon, Kryder and many, many more playing it to bits!
Also interested in this track was Sander van Doorn, who was eager to sign 'Invisbl Dreams' on his DOORN Records. And so it went, it's out today and we are talking with a proud Mastrovita about this triumphal march.
Hey Mastrovita, your new single 'Invsbl Dreams' was just released. What can you tell us about this track?
"I went to the studio with no specific idea in mind and just started. During that time I was listening to a lot of 80’s and 90’s music and maybe this has inspired my thougts unconsciously.
Furthermore with this track I wanted to inspire people to dream while listening and feel the groove. The track should tell a story. Usually when I start off a track I begin with the melody, but this time I went to the bassline first. As a result the track has come to live with all its chords and melodies."
Can you describe (from your own experience) how the track has grown in popularity? From making its first waves on the Talent Pool to loads of DJ support and signing it on DOORN Records?
"Actually 'Invsbl Dreams' is one year old. Most attention for the track has been caught on the talent pool, where I received lots of reactions and feedback which I used to improve it with new versions. Thanks to the great feedback and support which I received from big names like Sander van Doorn, Tiësto, Don Diablo and many more..Spinnin' recognized that my track deserved more, and it was decided to give the track an official release. I would like tho thank especially Sander van Doorn and the whole Spinnin' team for this!"
How did you feel when the first DJs started to play the track? Did you ever expect this?
"I was completely amazed and never thought that the track would get so much attention. My expectation was that it would go ahead step by step but I was wrong, instead of that it tooks jumps. I didn’t expect that so many big names would play my track - which is incredible. But this proves to me that I am on the right way."
As said, 'Invsbl Dreams' started its career on the Talent Pool. How important is this platform to you?
"The platform is quite important to me as it gives an opportunity for upcoming artists to present themselves and show what they got. What I like the most is the fact that you are working closely with artists as well as Spinnin' and collect their opinion and suggestions for improvement. You get noticed…"
If music wasn't your priority, what would you be working on instead?
"Same as I’m doing today: work, work, work, work. I’m working fulltime but I invest all my free time into the only thing I love: making music."
What has been the coolest thing in your musical career up till now?
"Besides this, the coolest thing was to see 'me' as an artist getting bigger and bigger and receiving so much love and support around the globe!"
What do you think is the most interesting development in dance music these days?
"In my opinion the dance music development is ok, but I am missing a lot of funk, groove and melodies that makes you wanna dream and move your body. I really have to search these days to find some tunes that sound unique and inspiring to me!"
What are your goals for the future?
"My main goal is to create my INVSBL DREAM to my real dream ;) "
And finally, what would you advise the upcoming stars on our Talent Pool?
"Use the feedback you get to improve your skills but don’t try to be somebody else. Keep it real and be yourself. Try to reflect your feelings into the music, make them real. And most important: never doubt yourself and keep doing your thing."
Stay tuned for more Mastrovita.
