Exclusive interview: New Dance Music Friday featuring Tony Junior

Mar 17, 2017

We proudly present the New Dance Music Friday feature, your weekly update on all newly released dance tracks, brought together on one amazing Spotify playlist. Featured this week (among many others): Tony Junior!  He's releasing his new single ‘Rock n Roll’ today,  and provides the list with some musical tips, and tells all about it in this exclusive interview.

Hey, you just released your new track ‘Rock n Roll’. How did you create this?
"
Hey! It all started when I heard a vocal from Omaaj and Melody Noel. Instantly I was in love with it and I needed it! At first the tempo was a bit slower than it’s now, but we decided to make it a bit faster. I wanted to make a bit of a different style than people are expecting of me. I made an idea and sent it to Omaaj en Melody Noel, and they liked it! I had a lot of fun working together with them, and I hope you guys like the track!"

What does this record say about your musical evolution as an artist?
"Like I said I wanted to make a different style than people are expecting of me. This is a bit more slow and 'women friendly' instead of a big room banger. For me it was fun to work on something different, also because you work with vocals from different musicians instead of your own. I always believe you should make the music you like and if you put your heart and soul into it, sooner or later people will appreciate that. I want to expand my horizon and this is the first single of that expansion!"

The track is featured on Spinnin’s New Dance Music Friday playlist. How important is Spotify to you?
"That’s amazing, thanks! I think Spotify is really important and is growing so fast. A couple of years ago it was Beatport and Soundcloud mainly. Nowadays almost everybody uses Spotify, and it’s an easy way of listening to your favorite music! I also recently started my own Spotify playlist!"

Which tracks released this week should definitely be added to New Dance Music Friday?

Curbi – 'Shinai'

Jay Hardway – 'Scio'

Blasterjaxx – 'Black Rose'
