Exclusive interview: New Dance Music Friday featuring Bassjackers

We proudly present the New Dance Music Friday feature, your weekly update on all newly released dance tracks, brought together on one amazing Spotify playlist. Featured this week (among many others): Bassjackers!  Together with Brooks they released their new single ‘Joyride’ this week, and provide the list with some musical tips, and tell all about it in this exclusive interview.

Hey, you just released your new track ‘Joyride’. How did you create this? 
"It was a melody which Brooks had written two years ago and never worked out. When we found it browsing on his computer we were immediately triggered into making it into something special together. The high complexity of the track demanded a lot of time from both sides, but we had so much fun while making it, we decided to call it 'Joyride', as a reference to the production process."

What does this record say about your musical evolution as an artist?
"Well, making music is an ongoing learning process. We learned a lot from the production process of 'Joyride' and new knowledge makes way to expressing yourself on a different level or emotion. One can notice that in time our tracks have become much more layered and deeper. But we try to keep it fun and energetic, the main aspects in our music from day one."

The track is featured on Spinnin’s New Dance Music Friday playlist. How important is Spotify to you?
"Spotify is very important, it’s a whole new way of listening to music and you can reach a lot of people with it. With Spotify it is so easy to access music and you can notice that in the reactions we get online. People who might never cross paths with Bassjackers, now do! And that is amazing and for us as producers it is also a new challenge to make the tracks even more interesting, because people can also decide to switch to the next artist easier. We think that actually pushes the whole industry to a next level and we love it!"
