Exclusive interview: New Dance Music Friday with Rowen Reecks
Jan 5, 2018
We proudly present the New Dance Music Friday feature, your weekly update on all newly released dance tracks, brought together on one amazing Spotify playlist. Featured this week (among many others): Rowen Reecks! He's releasing his single 'I Wanna Sex You Up' today, and talks about the creation of the track, his music and current favorite new records in this exclusive interview.
Hey, you just released your new single ‘I Wanna Sex You Up'. How did you create this?
"The track started out as a brainstorm idea between me and my management. We were looking for a cool 90's track to rework into something new. My management came up with I Wanna Sex You Up. I didn't know the track, but I immediately had some cool ideas with it. After a few weeks of creating the first idea, we contacted Dwight to do the vocals on this track. We thought he could make this track outstanding with his amazing voice and had the range for the higher and lower notes. After that we sent the track to Spinnin' and they were very positive right away about the track. The rest is history."
What does this record say about your musical evolution as an artist?
"Actually, 'I Wanna Sex You Up' is the first pop record I have ever made, I always focussed on club tracks. It's amazing to also have it as my debut on a major label as Spinnin. The whole process I went through to create this record was a big learning curve for me."
The track is featured on Spinnin’s New Dance Music Friday playlist. How important is Spotify to you?
"Very important! There's so much music here, I can discover new music from unknown acts every day, plus it's a fantastic way to share my music with listeners from all over the world. The analytics Spotify supplies are amazing, you can see every detail there is to know. I love that."
