Exclusive interview: New Dance Music Friday with Mr. Belt & Wezol
Apr 6, 2018
We proudly present the New Dance Music Friday feature, your weekly update on all newly released dance tracks, brought together on one amazing playlist. Featured this week (among many others): Mr. Belt & Wezol! They released their new single 'Let's All Chant' this week, and talk about the creation of it in this exclusive interview.
Hey, you just released your new single 'Let's All Chant'. How did you create this?
"When I heard the original 1977 track 'Let's All Chant' for the first time I just knew I had to sample it. It just has nostalgia and happy vibes written all over it."
What does this record say about your musical evolution as an artist?
"We are known for reviving dance classics into fresh house tunes, this record feels like a logical next step for us. Also, we always try to combine the music with a funny, original video. This time, unfortunately, there was no budget. No budget for a music video means no video at all, or a video with only stock footage. As you might know, stock footage on free websites is cringy and awkward as hell most of the times. We therefore came up with the idea to make this video as cringy and awkward as possible. If it's going to be cringy.. why not go all the way, right? You could say this also underlines our evolution; trying to deal with a situation in a unique way."
The track is featured on Spinnin’s New Dance Music Friday playlist on Spotify, Apple Music and Deezer. How important is streaming to you?
"Very important! Back in the day we always used Soundcloud to stream music but Spotify is so up to date nowadays. It's also perfect to find new music with all the sweet playlists everywhere."
Which recently released dance tracks should definitely be added to New Dance Music Friday?
"Alrighty, we hope y'all ready for some house music!"
