Exclusive interview: New Dance Music Friday with The Him

Featured this week (among many others): The Him! They are  releasing their new single 'Broken Love' today, and talk about the creation of it in this exclusive interview.

Hey, you just released your new single 'Broken Love'. How did you create this?
"The song was written in our studio in Amsterdam. We had a simple loop with some chords and the idea to write something about a relationship that is not entirely perfect. We usually do the production mostly after the vocal is done and that took a long time for this track. We had so many different versions and actually didn't open the project for a while to gain some new perspective on it. We're so happy to finally release it to the world!"

What does this record say about your musical evolution as an artist?
"We've been experimenting a lot with our sound for the last year. We constantly try to push the boundaries of what we make and make every track we do sound fresh. 'Broken Love' sounds unlike anything we've done before. For us this keeps it exciting to put out new records. To learn more and grow as artists."

The track is featured on Spinnin’s New Dance Music Friday playlist on Spotify, Apple Music and Deezer. How important is streaming to you?
"Spotify is the new radio so it's extremely important! The coolest thing is that now everyone in the world can find your songs and because of this we have fans everywhere!"
