Exclusive interview: New Dance Music Friday with Watermät

Featured this week (among many others): Watermät! He released his new single 'Need U' this week, and talks about the creation of it in this exclusive interview.

Hey, you just released your new single 'Need U‘. How did you create this? 
"The idea was to do some kind of mix between house and disco. I did the instrumental first at my studio, and I remember that I brought it with me for studio sessions in Amsterdam. When I played the demo to a singer, she came with the line "don't need your love when I need you", which was a bit dark but fitted pretty well with the instrumental. The first name of the instrumental was 'Voodoo', maybe it drived us in this direction."

What does this record say about your musical evolution as an artist?
"I've been producing a lot lately, and I noticed that I naturally go into a direction that mixes disco, house or tech-house. That's what you can expect from me in the future."

The track is featured on Spinnin’s New Dance Music Friday playlist. How important is streaming to you?
"Very important! Streaming is now the main way to listen to music for me, and as a producer, I'm also a sample hunter, so it helps a lot to have access to everything right away."
