Exclusive interview: New Dance Music Friday with Ummet Ozcan

Sep 21, 2018

We proudly present the New Dance Music Friday feature, your weekly update on all newly released dance tracks, brought together on one amazing playlist. Featured this week (among many others): Ummet Ozcan! He releases his new single 'Low Rider' today, and talks about the creation of it in this exclusive interview.

Hey, you are releasing your new single 'Low Rider' today. How did you create this?
"'Low Rider' is a classic 70’s hit by the American funkband War. It has always been one of my favourite tunes. It has a lot of drive and a good atmosphere because of the instruments they’ve used. I just started to mess around with the sample and it grooved rightaway into my version with a slighty decreased tempo. I layered some freshly recorded guitar slides and phattened the beat and bassline. It was much fun to work on this one."

What does this record say about your musical evolution as an artist?
"The cool part of making music is that you can create whatever you like. I don’t think you should be limited by style or conventions. Creativity is endless and an artist should use the full potential of it to raise the bar."

The track is featured on Spinnin’s New Dance Music Friday playlist. How important is streaming to you?
"It’s one of the the most effective ways to reach out to the online music lovers community. So it’s an essential tool in my opinion."

Which tracks released this week should definitely be added to New Dance Music Friday?

Don Diablo - 'Survive'

Quintino - 'Inferno'

Breathe Carolina, Lucas & Steve, Sunstars - 'Do It Right'
