Exclusive interview MusicbyLukas: 'Pass on those good feelings'

One of the Talent Pool's most popular artists MusicbyLukas has released his single 'Still In Love' on Spinnin's Copyright Free Music label. To celebrate the occasion, he is also taking over the Talent Pool playlist this week - reason enough to interview the man himself!

Hey there, what have you been up to lately? 
"I recently sold my home back in Los Angeles and am now traveling to a new country every month. I’m doing this with my partner Lauren, so that we can continue to build our social media, collaborate with other artists, and speak at music schools. And I couldn’t have done any of this if it wasn’t for the music.

I started out making tracks and uploading them just about anywhere online, but they weren’t getting many plays. So I started thinking of ways to get my music heard and that’s when I started building a social following and starting up the YouTube channel. This helped bring awareness to my tracks and I started getting better and better. Now I’ve been signed multiple times with Spinnin’ Records and can’t wait to see where it all takes me."

What have been the highlights so far?
"The YouTube channel started because Lauren kind of forced me into it honestly. She suggested that YouTube videos would be a great way to let people into my life and show support for my music. Now I have a fantastic group of followers who support me in more ways than just listening to my music and I learn a lot from them too!

Some highlights so far are being able to meet so many amazing artists and DJs for our YouTube video collaborations. I get to sit down with them, have fun making videos, and get to know them on a personal level. I’m so glad I gave in to starting the channel because it changed my life. I feel very grateful for the opportunities it has presented me."

How did you end up at Spinnin Records?
"We did a YouTube video titled 'How Mesto is So Amazing' a while ago and it actually got the attention of Mesto! At the time I had a track I had just finished and I sent it to him when he contacted me about the video. Mesto was quick to support my song 'Vibes', which in turn got me signed by Spinnin' Records and became my first major release. It’s crazy how it happens sometimes!"

You’re now releasing your new single ‘Still In Love’ on Copyright Free Music. What can you tell us about the creation of this record?
"I feel like this record is the perfect example of the style I’ve been developing, which I refer to as ‘future-trance’. It has the melodic and inspirational vocals of a trance-style track and the drop, groove, and bpm of a future house-style track. I just really love the mixture because it puts me in such a good mood when I hear it. I am hoping to pass on those good feelings to anyone who listens to this track as well."

What are your future plans?
"My short-term goals include finishing a lot of pending tracks and collaborations for Spinnin’ Records and to continue the development of ‘future-trance’. For 2019, Lauren and I will be playing live shows as a DJ duo, speaking at music schools about social media, making more YouTube videos and continuing to grow our fanbase while traveling the world. That’s a lot of plans, but it should be a lot of fun trying to make them all happen!"
